Today’s post comes from Blair Kalichman, our fabulous Digital Marketing Intern.
As my time as the Digital Marketing Intern for Lippe Taylor comes to an end, I’m definitely getting nostalgic about my short but fulfilling experience here. Besides the chic ‘not cube’ green cubicles, I’m going to miss borrowing Crystal’s iPhone charger from the front desk, counting down the seconds to Sweet Treat on Wednesday’s, hearing the click of someone walking in the trendiest boots of the season from one conference room to the next, and the list goes on…
While there are countless things I have learned over the duration of my internship, a few stand-out themes will stick with me, probably forever.
Social Media is the new black.
If there is a cutting-edge method to advertising and marketing, it’s 100% through social networking. Nowadays everyone is on Facebook and Twitter, and I’ve learned that a brand presence on any of these networks along with Instagram, YouTube and Tumblr, is the key to a consumer’s heart. Or pocket.
Teamwork divides the task and doubles the success.
As cliché as this quote may seem, it holds to be incredibly true for a thriving firm like Lippe Taylor. Just after my first day of working here I realized how important teams were to this company – the entire agency is divided into smaller teams (beauty, consumer, digital, etc.) and those teams are divided into yet another Russian nesting doll set of teams! As a member of the digital marketing team, I felt as though I played a part in their daily achievements because there is a sense of camaraderie that rings throughout the entire office. It comes as second nature to help out colleagues when you know they would do the same for you, and this foundation in Lippe Taylor’s unwritten by-laws has taught me an essential tool to win in PR, and the world at large.
Do what you love and love what you do.
Another cliché that happens to be the epitome of Lippe Taylor both in and outside of the office, it seems like common sense. If you aren’t passionate about what you do daily and the work you create, you shouldn’t expect the result to be something you’re proud of either. And why would you want to keep trying after that? Everyone here loves their job and it’s evident in their flawless final product, relationships with one another, and of course, their success in the PR industry!
Whether you are interested in PR or not (but preferably interested), the professional-sprinkled-with-fun-and-wonder-woman-on-top environment of Lippe Taylor, is the perfect place to learn what it takes to be successful and how to love your life while doing it. Hard work? Yes. Stressful at times? Yes. Worth it? 100%, I’d stay here until they kicked me out if I didn’t have to go back to school.
