Attention all Garden State fans – who would love to see Zach Braff create a new film? Well, here’s your chance to make that dream a reality.
Zach Braff has launched a Kickstarter campaign to help fund his next project, a follow-up to his critically acclaimed indie hit, titled Wish I Was Here. While this won’t be a sequel to Garden State, it will follow in the same vein with a similar tone, tackling the triumphs and woes of characters in their 30s – complete with nerdy Comic-Con references.
Although the script has previously been held up due to financing difficulties, Braff saw an opportunity with the success of the Veronica Mars Kickstarter, which raised $1 million in a mere 4 hours. He was spot-on – Wish I Was Here has already received $2.3 million (the goal was $2 million) with 23 days left to go.
Will Kickstarter be responsible for bringing us many of the beloved sequels we’ve been waiting for? We’ll have to wait and see, but fingers crossed the Friends writers will take note. Give the people what they want!
